Get to Know the Gimenez Guitars Saint

You’ve no doubt been seeing lots of posts, both here and on our Facebook page, about the various prototypes Gimenez Guitars has been testing out. Many local artists have had the opportunity to try them out, both in their rehearsal studios as well as at live shows. But aside from their unique, unmistakably good looks you may not know too much about the Sinner and the Saint – our flagship models. This is the first article written to give you a more in-depth look at one of those guitars – the Saint.

The Saint – Cutting Edge Design with Some Classic Cues

The first thing everyone notices about any Gimenez is our signature tuners-on-the-body design. But that’s not the only thing that makes this guitar special. Every detail was thoughtfully considered – from the choice of electronics to the source of our lumber. Gimenez takes great pride in producing some of the finest, most environmentally friendly guitars on the planet.

But before we get to that we should address why we chose to put the tuners where they are. While it does give the guitar an amazing look, it also allows the musician to easily and comfortably tune the instrument while holding a chord and without having to reach across the guitar. Also, putting all that hardware on the body, as opposed to the headstock, helps to give it amazing balance and weight distribution, making it one of the most comfortable guitars you’ll ever play. Even for those long sets.

Quality Everywhere You Look

The Body

So, what is this beautiful instrument really made of? All bodies are made of 1.5″ American maple, sourced locally from trees that are reclaimed or salvaged. We don’t believe in deforestation. Environmental responsibility and sustainability is a concept that permeates our company, our employees, and our products.

The Neck

The slim D neck has a 2-way adjustable truss rod and also has a pair of carbon-fiber rods for extra stability and strength. The fingerboards come in a variety of woods, including rosewood and birds-eye maple, with or without markers.

The Hardware

The bridge and tuners are both from Schaller – the only non-American parts on our guitars. These German-made components set the standard for high-quality. The all-brass 3D-6 roller bridge offers infinite adjustability and the M6 locking machine heads make re-stringing and tuning a breeze. The tuners and control knobs all sport knurled textured surfaces for a beautiful, modern look.

The Electronics

Finally, the standard pickups for the Saint are a pair of EMG H1A passive humbuckers. These pickups utilize Alnico V magnets, instead of ceramic, which results in a much warmer sound with a fuller mid-range and a smoother top end.
